2019 SOLACE HAVEN CORNHOLE SHOWDOWN TOURNAMENT

Welcome to the 2019 Solace Haven Cornhole Showdown Tournament

The tournament is a series of cornhole games designed to test your ability in playing cornhole. The tournament is for entertainment purposes and gambling is not allowed AT ANY TIME during the tournament. If any person/team engaging in any gambling related activities, as deemed by the Tournament Administrators, will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.

The tournament begins and ends on August 3, 2019 using the Playoff tournament (combination of round robin and single elimination tournament at the end).

  • The tournament is sponsored in part by Pinnacle Athletic Campus and conducted and administered by Western New York Cornhole (Tournament Administrator). The decision of the Tournament Administrator is final and binding in all matters as they relate to the tournament.
  • The tournament is open to US residents, who are 16 years of age and older at the time of the tournament.
  • The tournament is void where prohibited by law or where licensing is required.
  • As used in these rules, entrants may be referred to as “Entrant,” “Contestant,” “Player,” or “You.”

The tournament will consist of teams playing a round robin at first to obtain a “seeding” based on winning percentage. When the round robin format is over, an even number of teams will be chosen to enter the playoffs round – the top 6 teams, 8 teams, 12 teams, etc. If the number of winning teams from the first round would not result in an even number of teams playing in the second round, then some teams will have to be given a bye the first round. The playoffs are a single elimination round and the games are played until a winner is crowned.

Each entrant will be part of a 2-person team (Entrant Team). The Entrant Team is the individuals whose names appear on the Entry Submission. There is an entry fee of $99 per Entrant Team.

Registration begins at 10:30am and will end approximately 10 minutes prior the start of the tournament. There is no predetermined maximum number of Entrant Teams allowed to register for the tournament; however, in the event of a high number of Entrant Teams, it will be the sole discretion of the Tournament Administrator to place a limit on the number of Entrant Teams.

Entrant Teams are expected to be prepared to play when scheduled and may be required to show proof of identification prior to play. Any Entrant Team not prepared to play when required will be disqualified. All contestants are expected to remain at the Tournament Venue and be prepared to play until eliminated from the tournament.

Subject to confirmation of eligibility, the tournament winners will receive the following:

  • First Place – The Entrant Team declared to be the overall tournament winner will receive $1,000.
  • Second Place - The Entrant Team declared to be the tournament runner up will receive $500.
  • First and second place winners may herein be referred to as “Winner”

Any and all other cost and expenses not specifically mentioned herein including, but not limited to, transportation, parking, tolls, amenities, fuel, hotel, meals, beverages, room service, upgrades, all taxes, insurance, and personal expenses, are each Winner’s responsibility to pay. Taxes (federal, state, and local) are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Sponsor and tournament administrators do not provide tax advice. Participants and Winners are encourages to contact their own advisor regarding potential tax implications, if any, of this contest.

It will be the responsibility of Solace Haven and Pinnacle Athletic Campus to collect all entry fees and distribute prizes.

The Tournament Administrator and/or sponsors reserve the right, at any time, to disqualify any contestant form the tournament for exhibiting unruly behavior, disruptive behavior, unsportsmanlike behavior, cheating, and/or any other conduct deemed inappropriate by Tournament Administrator and Sponsors in their sole discretion.

The names and address (city & state) of winners will be posted on Solace Haven’s website

Each prize winner will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release. All federal, state, and other taxes are the responsibility of each individual prize winner. A prize winner must provide his/her social security number and will be issued an IRS Form 1099 for prizes valued in excess of $600.

Entry into the tournament constitutes permission for the Sponsor to use the contestants name, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and address (city & state) for publicity and promotional purposes on a worldwide basis, and in all forms of media, in perpetuity, without notice or further compensation.

If Tournament Administrator is absent from tournament, the officials assigned to a game will be the final decision maker relating to any and all disputes occurring during such game and such decisions will be final. At any time, a Tournament Administrator may present at any game may delegate his/her authority or responsibility to resolve disputes during such game to an official, and the decisions of such official shall be final.

All contestants, as a specific condition of participation in the tournament, agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and their respective affiliates and directors, officers, employees and agents, from and against any claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use, or enjoyment of any prize awarded in the tournament or from participation in the tournament.

All contestants, as a specific condition of participation in the tournament, agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Tournament Administrator(s) and their respective affiliates and directors, officers, employees and agents, from and against any claims, damages, liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use, or enjoyment of any prize awarded in the tournament or from participation in the tournament.

The tournament is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Any person attempting to defraud or in any or tamper with the logistics of the tournament will be disqualified. The tournament administrator(s) are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by any printing, technical or human error which may occur during the tournament. Tournament Administrator(s) are not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, inconvenience, or loss of time arising out of any acts, omissions, negligence, of any person, including, without limitation, transportation carriers and any person providing and service or accommodation in conjunction with any component of a prize awarded, or for delays and cancellations including, but not limited to those resulting from mechanical breakdown, closings, strikes, government action,  inclement weather, or Acts of God.

Any litigation commenced as a result or consequence of participation in the tournament shall be governed by New York State law and resolved in courts sitting in Monroe County, New York. Any judgement or award in favor of a contestant shall be limited to such contestant’s actual out of pocket cost incurred to participate in the tournament and, in no event, shall include attorney fees. All entrants waive any claims to the tournament administrator(s) for punitive, incidental, and consequential damage. By participating, each contestant understands and agrees that he/she may bring a claim against the tournament administrator(s) on an individual basis only and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative action or proceeding.

With regard to any prize awarded, the tournament administrator(s) make no express or implied warranty or merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

The tournament is void where prohibited.

Solace Haven at all times has the right to cancel or suspend all or part of the tournament, for any reason, in their sole discretion
